Achievements

SF-HEAT addresses the instigation of a professional programme in Aircraft Maintenance Technology at the University of Balamand. The programme is based on the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) and is integrated in LMD (Licence-Master-Doctorate) structure. It allows smooth transition to higher degrees in partner institutions and is unique in many ways, including subject matter, coupling of qualification and professional certification and the involvement of industry and regulators. It answers national and regional priorities in the New Technologies and Transport disciplines.

More specifically, SF-HEAT seeks to:

  1. Develop a professional aircraft maintenance technology programme that conforms to the Bologna Process and complies with European and Lebanese aeronautical standards.
  2. Define a vision for R&D in aeronautics supported by inter-partner M.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes.
  3. Create flexible e-learning aero-maintenance programmes composed of EASA compliant distance learning courses as means for continuing education and obtaining certification.
  4. Create flexible EASA compliant short courses in aero-maintenance directed at maintenance organizations uncertified personnel and delivered under a "teaching company scheme" modality.
  5. Exchange aviation experts between partners for training and knowledge sharing.
  6. Obtain EASA certification for UOB to deliver aero-maintenance programmes and become an approved test centre.
  7. Set up quality assessment and enhancement mechanisms for programmes and facility.
  8. Instigate dissemination strategies that ensure project sustainability.
